ZOOM
Zoom!
Got its name from its speed-it's considered one of the fastest teeth
whitening systems, and can fit easily into the most hectic of schedules.
Zoom! can whiten your teeth at the office or at home. If you choose the
in-office teeth whitening option, your teeth should look up to eight
shades lighter in just one hour. If you choose the take-home option,
your teeth should look up to six shades lighter in just three days-and,
with additional applications, you can go even lighter.
Zoom! One-hour whitening is a light-activated
teeth whitening treatment. After checking your teeth and gums to ensure
they are healthy enough to handle bleaching, your dentist will spread a
whitening gel containing hydrogen peroxide over your teeth. Then, he or
she will flash the Zoom! Low-heat on your teeth to activate and break
down the hydrogen peroxide. As the hydrogen peroxide breaks down, it
allows oxygen to enter your teeth and bleach the dentin and enamel.
After three twenty-minute gel applications, your dentist will finish up
the procedure with a five-minute fluoride treatment.
Zoom! Take-Home System treatment is available in
"weekender" kits perfect for anyone who wants quick results. The kits
come with tray materials and instructions for how to make an impression
of your teeth and send it off to a lab. You will receive your
custom-made tray shortly. This is the tray that holds the gel in place
during applications. Like the in-office treatment, the take-home
treatment uses hydrogen peroxide, which breaks down to allow oxygen to
bleach the teeth. The at-home formula is designed for improved gel
penetration and controlled oxygen release. You will place this formula
into a custom-made tray, created especially for your mouth from a mold
cast by your dentist. Typically, at-home users wear each application for
anywhere between four to eight hours, depending on the length of time
the dentist recommends.
Zoom! studies show an improvement of up to six
shades after just three applications.
Zoom! Also offers a touch-up kit for after your
treatment, and a whitening toothpaste to maintain your white
smile.
What is
Zoom! tooth whitening?
Zoom! is a bleaching process that
lightens discoloration of enamel and dentin.
Who may
benefit from tooth whitening?
Almost anyone. However,
treatment may not be as effective or some as it is for others. Your
dental professional can determine if you are a viable candidate for this
procedure through a thorough oral exam, including a shade
assessment.
Do many
people whiten their teeth?
More people than you might
imagine. A bright, sparkling smile can make a big difference for
everyone. The Zoom! Whitening System makes it easier and faster than
ever before.
Is whitening
safe?
Yes, extensive research and clinical studies indicate
that whitening teeth under the supervision of a dentist is safe. In
fact, many dentists consider whitening the safest cosmetic dental
procedure available. As with any tooth whitening product, Zoom! is not
recommended for children under 13 years of age and pregnant or lactating
women.
Is there any
difference between over-the-counter tooth whiteners and
Zoom!
Yes! Consulting your dental professional is always the
first step to whitening your teeth safely. Plus, over-the-counter tooth
whitening strips, brush-on gels and toothpastes take weeks or months to
whiten your teeth just a few shades. Zoom! is clinically proven to
whiten your teeth eight shades in one hour or six shades in just one
weekend.* Only a dentist can get your teeth this white, this
fast.
What does a
patient experience during the Zoom! In-Office
procedure?
During the procedure, patients may comfortably
watch television or listen to music. Many actually fall asleep.
Individuals with a strong gag reflex or anxiety may have difficulty
undergoing the entire procedure.
Are there
any side effects?
Some people experience temporary increased
tooth sensitivity to cold during treatment. These symptoms disappear
within 1-3 days after interruption or completion of the
treatment.
How long
does Zoom! In-Office Whitening take?
The complete procedure
takes just over an hour. The procedure begins with a preparation period
followed by one hour of bleaching. A five minute fluoride treatment
completes the procedure.
